Ryan was looking forward to the Divine Trials as they could help him gain Cultivation resources from the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and the Eternity Family Clan. If he was lucky enough he might even find a Heavenly Treasure or Immortal Plant Spirit during them that could help him to increase his Cultivation Level quickly. That would then allow him to carry out a lot of his plans with ease.

Divine Trials are conducted every five years to gauge the potential of the Younger generations of both Family Clans. The performance of a Martial Artist in the Trials also determines the amount of Cultivation resources they receive from their respective Family Clan, as well as their status in the Clan for the next five years.

The Divine Trials are conducted in a Spatial space. This particular Spatial space contains a small world which is thousands of square kilometers in area and contains numerous Treasure Lands. All kinds of creatures live inside it from Elemental Beasts to Undead creatures. This Spatial space was called the Treasure Space by the Founders of both Family Clans as it had numerous life changing opportunities in it. A number of restrictions are placed on entry into the Treasure Space, which only permit Martial Artists to enter who are less than thirty years of age, and have a maximum Cultivation Level of Late Mortal King Realm. This makes sure that only Martial Artists from the Younger generation compete in the Divine Trials. The Treasure Space also makes sure that none of the participants cheat. It places restrictions on treasured weapons or powerful charms or anything else that gives undue advantage to any participant during the Trials.

The Treasure Space has countless Heavenly Treasures, Immortal grade weapons and Immortal grade armor hidden in it by the Founders of both the Family Clans before they ascended to a Divine World, but only a hundred or so of these items have been retrieved so far. All these Treasures were well hidden by the Founders, so it is not at all easy to find them. All these treasures are priceless, and they could even tempt Martial Artists from the Senior generation vie for them. It is said that many of these treasures have sentience and only surface if they find someone worthy of them, but no one knows if this is true or false.

The Divine Trials are also occasionally viewed by the members of the Main branches of both Family Clans. If the performance of a Martial Artist in the Trials is dazzling enough to attract the attention of one of them, then that Martial Artist can become his or her personal disciple. The Heavenly Treasures in the Treasure Space pale in comparison with such an opportunity. This is the major reason the Martial Artists of the Younger generation participate in the Divine Trials, even though the Trials entail certain risks.

If a participant in the Divine Trials does become the personal disciple of a member of the Main branch of one of the Family Clans, then he or she has an exponential rise in status. He or she is given the best Cultivation resources and nurtured carefully by his or her Family Clan. The best part of being a personal disciple of a member of a Main branch doesn’t end there though. That member of the Main branch comes to Grandura to personally teach the disciple that he or she has accepted - but this has not happened for the past hundred thousand years.

Ryan would have also aimed for that if had he not met Sheldon and his four companions. They had already promised him that they’d personally recommend him to the Main branches of both Family Clans once he reached Immortal Realm. Ryan’s only intention in participating in the Divine Trials was to find Heavenly Treasures left behind by the Founders.

Currently, Ryan was heading towards the chamber of one of his grandmas. Her name was Alia. She was from the Fifth branch of the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and was also Ryan’s direct Ancestor. He had asked her to find him a particular poison, known as Tears of Angel. This poison can make all Mortal Realm beings shriek in fear as it can seal their Soul Cores and Elemental Cores permanently and make them powerless. She had somehow found it for him, and Ryan felt extremely giddy on knowing about that. He could finally increase Dargar’s toxicity which would, in turn, increase the toxicity of his own Poison Attribute Liquid Spirit Power, and thus increase the overall power of his Poison Attribute attacks.

There are two ways for Poison Attribute beings to increase their toxicity. One way is by advancing to higher realms of the Martial Path, which is the way chosen by most Poison Attribute beings as it is safe. The other way is extremely dangerous and even life-threatening, but if the Poison Attribute being is successful then its toxicity increases by a very large magnitude which, in turn, increases its strength to a whole new level. This method requires a Poison Attribute being to devour poisons that are birthed by Poison Attribute Treasure Lands. Such poisons are called Earth poisons.

There are different types of Earth poisons. The ones available on Grandura are of two types: Mortal grade and Immortal grade. Tears of Angel is one of the strongest Mortal grade Earth poisons. If a Mortal Realm Poison Attribute being successfully devours Mortal grade Earth poison then its toxicity increases manyfold, and its poisons might even affect beings with a Cultivation Level one or two Sub-realms higher than it.

As an Emerald viper Martial Spirit, Dargar is no different. He too can also increase his toxicity by devouring Earth poisons. However, if a Poison Attribute being consumes an Earth poison that is far stronger than its own poison, then it will be in mortal danger. If it is unable to devour the Earth poison and absorb it successfully, then only death awaits it. This method of increasing toxicity presents two benefits, if the Poison Attribute being succeeds in devouring it: its toxicity increases manyfold, and the level of toxicity directly affects its Combat prowess.

Ryan wanted Dargar to devour Tears of Angel in order to increase his toxicity which would, in turn, increase the toxicity of Ryan’s Poison Attribute Liquid Spirit Power. He had not told Alia about this intention of his as that might derail his plans so he wouldn’t get Tears of Angel from her. He had lied to Grandma Alia that he needed it for research purposes. All Poison Martial Artists research Earth poisons to increase their understanding of Poison Elemental Laws, since all Earth poisons are nothing but an amalgam of Poison Elemental Laws. Alia was initially against getting it for Ryan as it is lethal to Mortal Realm Martial Artists, but eventually she gave in to his repeated requests.

Tears of Angel is a rare kind of Earth poison that works only on Mortal Realm beings. Alia was only able to procure a single drop of it, and that too only on the black market. It is illegal to buy or sell Tears of Angel on Grandura. If a person is found selling or buying it, then he or she becomes an enemy of all the powerful factions of Grandura.

Generally, Tears of Angel is used to deal with talented Mortal Realm Martial Artists of powerful factions without killing them, as killing one of them has many problems associated with it. Talented young Martial Artists from powerful factions have tracking seals placed on them. These seals attach themselves to the soul of a killer the moment he or she kills a talented Martial Artist from a powerful faction, which allows the talented Martial Artist’s faction to track the killer. Such a situation makes it dangerous for anyone to kill a ta
lented young Martial Artist with a powerful backing.

Tears of Angel doesn’t kill its victim, but cripples the victim instead - which is no different from being dead in eyes of the people of Grandura. Tracking seals don’t attach themselves to the soul of the person that poisoned the talented Martial Artist, but even powerful factions don’t have a way to detoxify a Mortal Realm Martial Artist poisoned by Tears of Angel, and the victim dies the moment someone tries to detoxify him or her. Death is the only option for victims of this poison, and that is the main reason it is banned.

Tears of Angel is generally birthed by Low-grade Poison Attribute Treasure Lands. It takes thousands of years for the formation of a single drop of it. So, its rarity can be imagined, which in turn makes it precious. Generally, if somebody possesses some, then he or she never sells it.

Ryan had no idea how difficult it had been for Alia to procure Tears of Angel for him. She’d mobilized all her contacts and parted with half of her wealth for a single drop of it, but she didn’t mind, so as long as Ryan could benefit from it.

When Ryan entered Alia’s Cultivation chamber, he found her sitting on a chair. She was reading a book, but put it aside as he entered.

“Thanks, Grandma,” Ryan said in a sincere manner, and a smile appeared on Alia’s beautiful face. She seriously liked her sweet-talking grandson.

“Don’t tell anyone about this matter especially your worrywart grandfather,” Alia said in a grim tone as she handed over a small black-colored glass bottle to Ryan. He nodded his head as he put it into his Spatial pouch.

“Ryan, handle this poison with care. Make sure you don’t handle it with injured hands as it will enter your bloodstream via your injuries and no one will be able to save you,” Alia said in a grave manner. Ryan hurriedly nodded his head.

Tears of Angel only affects someone if it is injected into his or her bloodstreams. So, Alia knew that Ryan would be OK, so as long as he didn’t handle it with injured hands. This was the main reason why Alia had agreed to get it for Ryan. This poison might be deadly for a Mortal Realm Martial Artist, but only if it is injected into his or her bloodstream; otherwise, it is no different from a harmless liquid.

Ryan and Alia talked for some time before Ryan returned to his own Cultivation chamber. He had a big smile on his face. He could finally boost his strength to a whole new level.

“Ryan, let me devour it quickly,” Dargar said in an impatient manner. Everyone could feel the excitement in his voice. Yama and Earl couldn’t help but laugh on seeing his impatience.

“Don’t worry. I have a similar intention too,” Ryan said, in order to reassure him.

Ryan informed everyone that he would be entering a Closed-door Cultivation session before sealing his Cultivation chamber so that no one would disturb him while Dargar devoured Tears of Angel.

Ryan sat in a meditative position on the floor as he took out the small black glass bottle from his Spatial pouch. The first thing he did was to summon Caius. Soon his entire body was covered in green-colored runes following which a small Spatial rift opened inside his Cultivation chamber, and Caius flew out of it. He had a happy expression upon seeing Ryan, as he’d been exploring the Forest of Darkness for the past few months. Ryan’s expression was no different from Caius, as he was happy to see Caius too.

“Did you enjoy your outing?” Ryan asked as he gently rubbed the tip of his forefinger on Caius’s tiny head. Caius energetically nodded as he sent a stream of Mental-message transmissions to Ryan. They contained images of different parts of the Forest of Darkness that he’d visited during the past few months. Ryan marveled upon seeing them as he himself had yet to explore the Forest of Darkness. He had only visited the area surrounding the estate.

“It seems that you have already visited every part of the Forest of Darkness,” Ryan said with a light laugh.

Caius shook his head as he sent another Mental-message transmission to Ryan. This one contained an image of an island in the middle of a lake. Its specialty was the vicious black fog that covered it except for a few parts of the island. Caius hadn’t explored the island, as he’d been summoned back to the Estate by Ryan the moment he was about to venture onto it.

Ryan was extremely intrigued by the island and had already decided to explore it as soon as possible, as he was certain that the fog was created by a Heavenly Treasure of Death Attribute. Ryan deduced this from the fog, which was actually Miasma.

Miasma is either conjured by Death Attribute beings or emitted by Death Attribute Heavenly Treasures. The Miasma around the island was too dense and vicious-looking for it to be conjured by a Death Attribute being from Grandura. So, there was very high chance that it was being emitted by a Death Attribute Heavenly Treasure.

Miasma is a gas that slowly erodes the vitality and life-force of the living. Ryan was currently far from conjuring Miasma.

Ryan was also fascinated as he was unable to understand how a Death Attribute Heavenly Treasure could exist in the middle of a Darkness Attribute Treasure Land. He was certain that this Heavenly Treasure had not been birthed by the Forest of Darkness. This fact alone had piqued his interest. Ryan sent the matter regarding the island to the back of his head temporarily as he opened the small black glass bottle.

“Caius, let’s get started,” Ryan said as he became serious. Under Ryan’s control a colorless droplet of liquid emerged from the small black glass bottle. The droplet was covered in Ryan’s Poison Attribute Spirit Power. It flew straight towards Caius. The droplet stopped in front of Caius and continued to hover there. Caius placed his tiny arms onto the droplet and absorbed it completely. Caius’s entire body was covered in a pale green light following which runes appeared on his body, runes that shone with a blinding green light.

Ryan wanted Dargar’s poison to evolve as well as increase his toxicity. If Dargar had directly devoured the Tears of Angel poison then there was only a one percent chance that his poison would gain the properties of Tears of Angel, but there was a ten percent chance that his poison would evolve, once it had first been refined by Caius. This was one of the specialties of Viper’s Touch Plant Spirits which made other Poison Elemental beings envious of Emerald vipers.

Soon a green-colored droplet of liquid appeared in Caius’s hands. This was the refined form of Tears of Angel. Ryan conjured Dargar once Caius was done with the refining. Under Ryan’s control, the green droplet of liquid flew out of Caius’s hands and entered Dargar’s mouth.

Dargar was shrouded in green light as the poison was slowly absorbed by him, and soon he entered into deep sleep-state. A smile crept onto Ryan’s face as he recalled Dargar to his Soul World, and Caius re-entered Ryan’s hair to cultivate Poison Elemental Laws, as he knew that his work was done.

Ryan was certain that Dargar would be able to devour Tears of Angel without his own life being in danger as he possessed Asura Physique. Asuras are immune to Fire Attribute and all Evil Attributes. Since Poison Attribute is also an Evil Attribute it meant Ryan was immune to all kinds of poisons irrespective of their grade.

Generally, a Poison Attribute being needs to put his life on the line when devouring Earth poisons that are much stronger than his or her own poison. As Dargar was a Martial Spirit he was immortal, as long as his host was fine, so the entire life-threatening process was a non-issue for Ryan. If Ryan had lacked Asura Physique, then Tears of Angel would have sealed his Soul Cores the moment Dargar had tried to devour it. Ryan was happy with the way things were moving in his favor.

“Ryan, your insights in Fire Elemental Laws are lacking in comparison to your insights in Death Elemental Laws,” Earl said with concern while Ryan was enjoying the moment. Earl’s warning quickly brought him back to earth. He had been concentrating wholeheartedly on Death Elemental Laws for the past few months which had resulted in his comparative lack of understanding in Fire Elemental Laws. Ryan’s understanding in Death Elemental Laws was already approaching the threshold requirement for advancing his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core to Mid
Mortal Lord Realm.

“Ryan, you should cultivate Fire Elemental Laws until Dargar is done with absorbing Tears of Angel,” Yama added. Ryan readily agreed with Yama and Earl’s suggestion. He immediately started cultivating Fire Elemental Laws, and it didn’t take long for him to enter into a deep Cultivation-state.

Time passed and soon half a month passed. In the meantime, the green light that shrouded Dargar grew stronger with each passing day. Ryan being in a deep meditative state was not in the know about what was taking place inside the green side of his Soul World. It was only witnessed by Yama and Earl.

On the sixteenth day after Dargar had entered the deep sleep-state, a powerful energy ripple was released from the green side of Ryan’s Soul World. Its source was Dargar, but it was so powerful that it jolted Ryan out of his deep Cultivation-state.

Ryan quickly sent his consciousness into the green side of his Soul World. He saw that Dargar was shining with blinding green light, but soon the green light receded and Dargar opened his eyes slowly. Ryan had an expectant look on his face. Yama and Earl were no different, and Dargar didn’t let them down.

“I was successful in absorbing Tears of Angel. My toxicity has increased manyfold. It is now comparable to that of a Mid Mortal King Realm Poison Attribute being that hasn’t devoured any kind of Earth poison to increase its toxicity,” Dargar told them.

“My Nightmare gas has also gained a few Tears of Angel properties. We should test it as soon as possible,” Dargar added with a laugh. Even a real Emerald viper wouldn’t have been able to absorb an Earth poison so easily. The only reason Dargar could do it so easily was because he was a Martial Spirit and Ryan possessed Asura Physique.

Ryan, Yama, and Earl were ecstatic upon hearing this: it was big news for them. Since Dargar was successful, it meant that the toxicity of Ryan’s Poison Attribute Liquid Spirit Power would also have increased by leaps and bounds. Now, the toxicity of his Poison Attribute attacks would be comparable to that of Mid Mortal King Realm Poison Attribute beings that had not increased their toxicity by devouring Earth poisons.
